To get a kid's perspective, bring your family to view Pieces for Peace, a 230-foot mosiac creatred by 10 student artists from Queens -- as well as Italy, Mexico, Pakistan, Nambia, Chile, Fiji, israel, and Germany. the exhibit, concieved by the arts organization CITyarts, made its debut at Flushing Town Hall on September 10, as part of the Flushing council on the Arts' Freedom festival. It will remain there through Cotober 9, and then travel around the world.

Local students are thinking globally and acting locally in one city park.
It's Natali Ohayon's first visit to New York, and this 16-year-old student from Israel has already left her mark on the city. She's one of seven international students invited to create a mosaic mural with local youth.
"We have so many people from so many different places, and we can get along," she says.

They've got the whole world in their hands and a group of students hope to change it for the better.
"I'm drawing a man creating the world," says one little boy. "I'm trying to make the world very peaceful."
Students from P.S. 192 in Hamilton Heights are starting to make the world better by changing the landscape in the own backyard. They're creating individual tiles for a mosaic mural that's just getting started on a wall, along the back of their school field.

People in communities around the globe are invited to nominate local schools to join the international "Pieces for Peace" project, sponsored by the Allianz Foundation for North America.
The Allianz Foundation teamed up this year with CITYarts, one of New York City's premier public art organizations, to create the "Pieces for Peace" mosaic project. CITYarts is a non-profit organization dedicated to engaging young people in public art projects, community revitalization and international dialogue.
