Global HeART Warming is designed to engage youth in discussion about the current state of the environment and to create artworks that express both concerns and hopes for the future. It challenges youth to ask, "What chops, murals, can I do to reduce the speed of global warming?" It will include three phases - Workshops, Murals and Exhibitions.
CITYarts' 272nd Project, Nature is Love on Earth, ribbon cutting and unveiling was held on April 28th, 2009.

In CITYart’s unique Global HeART Warming workshops, we urge participating youth to ask themselves, “What can I do to reduce the speed of global warming?” Partners such as the American Museum of Natural History allow us to first educate groups about the basic issues of climate change, allowing them to make informed insights and create meaningful art. Then, with the help of the CITYarts team, artworks are created using primarily recycled materials, such as bottle caps, cardboard, and plastic bottles.
Under Global HeART Warming, CITYarts is creating five murals, one in each of New York City’s five boroughs. These murals are designed by local youth in special workshops led by artists, and they are painted by community volunteers. All five will be completed by 2010, and as of early 2009, three have been painted:

With artist Duda Penteado's help, the children used their ideas of peace to come up with different ideas for the mural. – Samantha Rosenbaum, CITYarts Intern
