Thank you for inquiring about the Slide Registry at CITYarts.
We are a 37-year old public art and art education organization dedicated to supporting the work of artists who wish to make an impact on people's lives by creating public art with community support and participation. Since 1968, CITYarts has produced more than 250 public artworks, including murals, sculptures and mosaics. To view some of our projects and to find out more about what we do please visit the Gallery page of this website and visit our Projects site.
Artists may select to play a role in any or all of the following ways:
1.Community Arts Collaborations
The artist works hand-in-hand with youth and community members on all stages of the public artwork, including workshops, model drawing and hands-on creation of the final work.
2.Commissions
The artist submits a proposal for a site-specific-work and is selected based on his/her design. The community is involved only in the artist selection.
3.Public School Projects
Art projects that involve student participation in every stage of the process and usually require teaching experience.
4.Artists in Residence/Project Sponsorship
Artist initiated through NYSCA, NYFA or other agencies. CITYarts will serve as the nonprofit umbrella organization, but the primary responsibility lies with the artist.
