Summer Intern, 2009

Interning at CITYarts was one of the best decisions I made this summer. The internship experience was unlike any internship I’d had before. CITYarts allowed me to have a perfect balance of both office work and field work at given project sites. In the office, I had the opportunity to develop my computer skills and work on organizational projects for an extended period of time.

At the Peace For Peace Wall Restoration, I had the opportunity to scrub and tile for the first time in my life, and despite being very new to the tasks, I had an amazing time and learned a great deal! At Stonehenge, I rediscovered my love of painting and now plan on taking some art classes in college. It was also a great joy to work with kids frequently and to have the opportunity to both guide, teach, and laugh with them. I also had the chance to meet a great number of volunteers from all different walks of life and being able to hear their individual stories really opened up my eyes to life outside of the New York City bubble.

Tsipi, Kim, Marc, and Jordan are amazing people to work for, and through speaking with them, you have the opportunity to learn so many both relevant and random facts. The intern community was also the best I’ve ever encountered. Everyone got really close, and we even had a barbeque party. I’m very grateful for having had the chance to become friends with all of the interns, and I intend to keep in touch with the group. Conclusively, CITYarts was a fun, educational, and great internship experience, and I am sad that my internship is over! I hope I get the opportunity to work with CITYarts again in the future! Thank you so much for everything☺
