CITYarts Internship Opportunities
CITYarts is a 37-year-old non-profit public arts organization that empowers children by bringing them together with professional artists to create murals, mosaics and sculptures that addresses civic and social issues, impact their lives, and transform their communities.
DEPARTMENTS Development/Fundraising: Research corporate and foundation funding sources, prepare grant applications and supporting materials, and assist in planning fundraising events and strategies.
Public Relations/Communications: Organize and mobilize CITYarts' mailing list, update and expand press contact lists, prepare press releases, create promotional materials, and research possibilities for media coverage.
Marketing/Promotions: Develop marketing and Public Relations plan. Develop marketing strategies. Research production opportunities for products. Find suitable markets to sell products and services. Work on a book CITYarts: Urban Stories and produce a new CITYarts brochure.
Program Development: Research and develop strategic plans for existing programs such Engaging Greffiti Kids in Creation, not Destruction and draft preliminary correspondence for new programs.
Annual Benefit: Organize and coordinate benefit committees, guest list, awardees, and benefit auction, as well as secure donations and contributions.
Artist's Assistant: Work at a mural or sculpture site supervising young participants, assist the lead artist in all phases of project implementation.
Video: Document the creative process and ribbon-cutting ceremonies of various projects, interview community participants, assist with all aspects of production as well as archiving video library.
Studio: Work with an independent, professional artist represented by CityArts. Learn everything from the management of a studio to financing, dealing with clients, and more.
QUALIFICATIONS All interns should be familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and Access. We are looking for interns who are motivated, flexible, committed, conscientious, and have an interest in the arts.
SCHEDULE Interns design their own schedule with CITYarts' staff. Average of 15-20 hours a week.
