Dear Friend, We believe in thinking globally and acting locally. Therefore, CITYarts created "Pieces for Peace" mosaic project to build bridges of international cultural understanding between the United States, especially New York City youth, and youth from around the world. "The project brings back such good memories about Longfellow Avenue; it brought us neighborhood kids together stronger than ever. It stopped fights, anger, and created a sense of communication. We discovered our differences, learned to understand them, and also learned to respect each others cultures." -Yolanda Past CITYarts Youth Participant

A message from one of our leading sponsors: "Pieces for Peace is an exciting opportunity to give voice to the ideas and concerns of young people across the world. By bringing youth into artistic dialogue with each other on issues of peace, CITYarts is empowering them to share their visions for a more peaceful future and equipping them with critical artistic and intercultural skills that will help them shape the future they envision. We strongly believe that CITYarts is indeed making a difference through the arts." -The Rev. Christopher Worthley Executive Director Allianz Foundation for North America
