Please join us to celebrate CITYarts’ history of impacting lives and transforming communities at our Annual Benefit: Making a Difference Through the Arts by becoming a member of our Leadership Circle. This year’s event will be held on May 10th at the “Windows on the Hudson” Allianz Building at 1633 Broadway, New York. We will be honoring Moni Yakim, Gene Kaufman, and Diane Brown. These distinguished individuals have made a significant impact on the arts and education in our city. They’re truly an inspiration to us all!
Meet our honorees!
Moni Yakim is the founder of the Juilliard Drama School, celebrating its 50th Anniversary this year. Called by John Houseman, “a complete and vital man of the theatre,” Moni Yakim began his theatrical career as an actor in his native Jerusalem, joining the Massach Theater at age 14. In Paris, he was a principal performer with the Etienne Decroux Mime Company and has worked with Marcel Marceau. Moni’s award will be presented by his former student, acclaimed actor, Kevin Kline.
Gene Kaufman As Founder and Principal of Gene Kaufman Architect, PC, Gene Kaufman leads a team of professionals for high-caliber, high-impact designs that are both innovative and highly efficient. For more than 30 years, the firm has helped New York City’s most active developers realize substantial bottom-line results through thoughtful design that reflects a wide range of expertise. He is on the Board of Directors of the NSU Art Museum Fort Lauderdale. Gene’s award will be presented by Architect Robert H. Siegel.
Diane Brown is Founder and Executive Director of RxArt. She has been active in the field of contemporary art since 1973; from 1976-1982, she owned and operated the Diane Brown Gallery in Washington DC and New York City (1983-1992). These spaces played host to some of the most significant artists of the time. Brown also worked as a private dealer, a consultant to private collectors for collection development and management, and as the curator of a corporate photography collection in New York City.
The CITYarts Annual Benefit consists of the awards presentation of Making a Difference Through the Arts, a fine art auction, luxury goods silent auction, cocktails, buffet dinner, and a raffle.
